  "Matthew!" I shouted down the stairs"How could you do this to my poor Spotty?" Matt shrugged. Spot is my dog. He is a black and white spotty dog who I adore and Matthew only goes and washes his hair wrong! "Mother!" I shout loudly "Matthew decided to try and ruin Spot's hair!" My mother just sighs and continues washing the dishes. "Well what ever! I'm going to school"I flounce. "Goodbye Jodie" my mother says.

  Its about time you know who I am. I am Jodie Eliza Star Smith. I am 15 years of age and I am a vampire. But don't tell anyone epically not my brother Matthew. HE would just snitch to mother. There is only one person who knows my best friend Jelly! Real name Jelina Moonlight Marsh. That’s only because I bit her in year 8. So basically we are the only vampires in the school. No joke.

  When I got to school Jelly ran over to me. "Hey Jod-Y!" She says. Jelly insists on calling me Jod-Y because of Jelly and Jod-Y you know. "So... Can we go hunting tonight PLEASEEE!!" As you can see Jelly is a MUCH more immature vampire than me! "Fine!" I sigh. Jelly squeals! "Now for a treat that really is Amazing -double MATHS!!" Exclaims Jelly. You know...

  But this maths actually didn't suck. Mrs. White said we could just chill because it was the end of term. Which was brilliant. After that we had lunch, mother packs me sandwiches because she doesn't know what I really am! Typical mother! So anyway me and Jelly ditched our sandwiches and went to the woods to catch something snacky. That’s when I saw it. It was a doe. My hunting instinct took over I pounced onto the deer,delicious! After I had eaten I helped Jelly catch a small buck as she was younger and needed more to eat.

  Jelly licked her lips "That was lovely" She whispered. I nodded-of course it was. But tonight was the big hunt and Jelly couldn't really contain her excitement. She just kept grinning. After lunch hour was over we went into art. Art was the only place I could be me. Today we were asked to draw something that resembles us. I couldn't think of what to draw on mine. So I drew a rose with thorns. Miss Richmond asked why I drew such a thing. But I just said "Roses have thorns they say." As I walked away Miss Richmond sighed and looked at me like I was mad.

  Finally we had Science. Where our teacher just lets us watch Science-fiction films because he thinks that’s science. In fact that’s all we do. We have no conversation with him at all,I don't even know his name. In science we watched Independence Day. Its a really good film. Or it would be if it didn't have so much blood. It makes me and Jelly thirsty but then again lots of things make us thirsty,really.

  In form I texted Jelly the details on where to meet me for the hunt tonight. It read....

  Hey Jelina!

  Meet me at the woodland tonight for the hunt! We may catch a bear or better.....

  Then I returned home to find my mother shouting at Matthew. That’s good. Matthew looked at me pleading. I knew what this was about! Him going out with his girlfriend that last Saturday.

  "Oh Jodie Hun your home"Said my mother when she saw me. "Hello mother" I replied "Just so you know I am sleeping round Jelly's home tonight." My mother sighed. "Your going to school with Jelina I am lead to believe?" I nod. My mother sighed again. "OK go pack your stuff" she whispered looking rather forlorn. "I already have mother" I say. My mother bites back a tear "OK off you pop then Jodie!" she shouts."But please,PLEASE Jodie, Call me mum!" I cringe. "Goodbye Mum." My mother looks at me and smiles.

  "WHERE HAVE YOU BEEN!"Shouts Jelly when I arrive at the woods. "Sorry Mum was playing up" I mumble. Jelly cringes "Ew. She made you call her M-m-m-Mum?" I nod. Jelly winces "OK" she says. "I will let you off. JUST THIS ONCE! Now lets go! Then we can go meet some human boys to turn!" Turning human boys into vampires is Jelly's thing. She loves it. We go into the woods.

  I see it. It’s a lion. Rare in these parts. I get ready to pounce. I got it! I drink, salivating over it. Meanwhile I hear Jelly drinking a bear. I shake my head. Best not tell her I got a lion. When we meet again I ask her what she got. "Bear" She says "You" I lick my lips "MOUNTIAN bear" Jelly sighs. "Lucky" she cries.

  Then we get out our fake Ids and go to YZ5! The new bar that opened last week. As we walk in all eyes on Jelly as usual. She is gorgeous. "Hey honey" Says a boy to Jelly. She ignores him. But I have my eyes on a sober boy. Who is really quite handsome. I am sure I have seen him round school. Jelly is in so deep conversation with this boy called David in our school and year. She doesn't even notice me slip away from her. "Hello" I say quietly to the boy. He looks up. He sees instantly I am sober and says. "Hi." I smile faintly. "So. What’s your name?" He looks at me a second and says "Jonathan" I smile. I love the name Jonathan. I love people who don't shorten it to John too. "My name is..." But I don't get to finish. "Jodie Eliza Star Smith right?" I giggle and nod. "I love you!" He says.

  "But how? You don't even know me!" I exclaim. Then I see he is not sober. I back away. "Hey Jelly. You ready to go"I say. "Yes." Jelly sighs. "OK lets go to yours." I say. As we walk back to Jelly's I tell her about Jonathan. She sighs "Boys like that SUCK Jod-Y!" she says. I nod "Sing it Sister" Then being Jelly she sung it. "Boys like that SUUUUUCCCCKK JOD-YYYYY" I laughed "God Jelly I couldn't live without you!" I said. She grinned. "Remember to call me Jelina in front of mother!" I grin. "Yes Jelina!" We smile as we walk the next few metres to Jelina's house.

  "Mother!" Shouts Jelina "I am home" Jelina is lucky enough to be a only Child. "Hello Mrs Marsh!" I shout. Jelina's mother glides down the stairs. "Hello girls!" She exclaims. "Jelina darling how good to see you!" she says "Oh and Jodie! Hello darling! Please though call me Annie!" I love Jelina's mother. She is so very nice. "OK mother. Me and Jodie are going to my room." says Jelina. "OK OK darling! I will bring you up a snack later!" Annie exclaims.

  As soon as we get into Jelly's room. She sighs "I wish she wouldn't shout all the time!" She says. "Jelly!" I say/shout. "SSH" Jelly says. I sigh "You can't say that Jelly!" I mock whisper. Jelly sits down "And I wish she would just call me JELLY! Not my pathetic name Jelina!" She cries. I sit next to her. Then we crash out on her double bed (NO! Vampires do not sleep on coffins! That died out in the 1500's!)

  When we awake it is Saturday. "Hey Jelly?" I whisper. Jelly nods. "I just remembered its the holidays!" I whisper. Jelly just nods and goes back to sleep and I do the same. When we awake for the second time Jelly is the first to speak. "Wah tim ist et?" She asks. "What?" I say. She sighs "What time is it?" She says. I look over at the clock. "11 o'clock." I reply. "Cool" She says and again we drop off.

  We awake to "JELINA,JODIE? Darlings it is break-feast!" From Jelina's mother. We sigh and go down stairs. "What do you want darlings?" Jelina's mother said. I just shook my head and said "Please don't worry Mrs. Marsh I have a break-feast packed" I winked at Jelina. Javelin nodded at her mother "Me too mother." she promised. Mrs Marsh nodded and went up stairs shouting "Get to school darlings!" We rushed out the door.

  "Wait Jelly. School's over!" Jelly nodded. "Silly old mother. Forgets all the time" So me and jelly decided to go on a holidays start hunt. I went for a baby mountain bear,their blood is ever so sweet. Jelly found a deer. "Lush!" I shouted loudly. Jelly nodded. "Deer blood is the best!" she said. I shook my head. "Naaaah! Baby mountain bear would kick its ass!" Jelly did a dramatic double take "You found a BABY mountain bear?" I nodded "Oh yeah!" Shocked Jelly fled. I chased. "Wanna play?" I shouted. "Lets play!" Jelly exclaimed. I chased her. Grinning as I did. We did that for about 4 hours. Then we went to mine.

  "Mother! I'm home." My mother came downstairs with Matthew. Jelly fluttered her eyes at Matthew. "Girl!" I whispered "He is soooo taken" She looked forlorn. "Oh well he is really out of my league!" She cried. We ran upstairs before my mother could even say "Hey, Jodie,Jelly.
"

  "Jelly!" I stage whispered "Quit hitting on my brother!" Jelly looked mock forlorn. "But I can't help it!!!!" She stage whispered back. Matthew came in "Hey Jode," He said "Can I talk to you a sec? You know... In private?" I nodded and walked out. Winking at Jelly as I left. "So Jode..." Said Matt "I broke up with Anastasia. "Anastasia was his girlfriend "And I wondered" He continued "If Jelly would wanna maybe" His phone rang "Hold on!" He said and answered it "Hey Anna!" He said to the phone. "Really? Yeah sure I would defiantly wanna get back together! OK see ya in 10! Yeah Love you too." I looked at him. "Continue..." I said "Oh don't worry sis!" He replied. "See you later." Poor Jelly.

  "Hey Jelly! Sorry I took so long" I said cheerfully as I walked back in to my room. Jelly was sitting there with her arms folded, looking pissed off. Then she smiled.. “Well at least you didn't leave me!” She said. “Look Jelly... The reason Matt took me out to talk to me was...” She smiled “What?” she said. I couldn't bear to tell her “Because he just wrote a new song...” I stuttered. She looked at me. “No it's not.” She said “Tell me the truth!” I slumped onto my black swirly chair and said “He was gonna ask you out but the Anastasia called and asked him back out and he said yes! Sorry Jelly...” Jelly looked at me for a solid forty seconds and cried. God I wish being a vampire could stop me from dealing with this.

  “How about a feel...better...hunt?” I said trying to turn on the cheerfulness. Jelly just lay on the bed, my mum set up for her earlier, and cried “That bitch!” She silently screamed. My mother burst into the room “Your dads coming home! I've got news!” She shouted. I gasped, this had to be big. Father only came home on Christmas and birthdays. Away on business my mother says. So Matt came home from his date and dressed in his best suit and I in my finery. Mother said that it was OK for Jelly to stay and hear the news as she was like part of the family.

  When my father came in he grinned at me and Jelly. When I said that no-one apart from Jelly knew I was a vampire, I guess that wasn't strictly true... My father knows because he is a vampire too! Vampire/human babies are either born vampire or human. My mother is human and so is Matthew. My father is vampire and so am I. He knows about Jelly as well.

  “Hello my love” He said to my mother and kissed her. Then he came and kissed me on the forehead and clapped Matthew on the back. “Jelina! Hello!” He said to Jelly as he kissed her on two cheeks. “Family! Hello. I am just back as your mother has news!” He said to us all including Jelly.

  “Sit down.” My mother said. “This is big.” Only Matthew sat. His human legs could not take standing for longer than about twenty minutes. “OK stand then” She said to the rest of us. “OK ready” She exhaled deeply “I'm... well I'm... I'm pregnant!” She shouted. Me and Jelly sat in silence. My father did a double take. Matthew was the only one that got up and gave my mother a hug. “Congrats mum!” He shouted. She smiled. “Congratulations mother.” I whispered as I walked out. My father followed saying “I will be home for a couple of years then dear. I love you and our b-b-baby.” Jelly said “I am so happy for you Mrs. Smith.” Then rushed after me.

  “What will we do!” My father whispered. “What if it is one of us?” I whispered back. Jelly rushed in. “OK! Mr. Smith what are we gonna do?” She whispered. I shook my head. “There is a small chance it might not be....” My father interrupted “There is a 50/50 chance Jodie!” He exclaimed. “Well you never know father?” I said. Jelly just stayed quiet. “Look father, we will have to wait until the child is born until we find out what we are gonna do!” I shouted. He nodded “True.” He said. “But we will know way before if it is vampire. It will be born seven months to early.”

  He was right. It would be born to early. Me and Jelly couldn't stand the tension between my parents. So we fled the house. As we left Matthew said “Hey Jode and Jelly...need a ride? I'm seeing Anastasia anyway.” Jelly looked pained, so I said “Nah don't worry Matt. I see ya later!” Matthew looked slightly upset “Yeah,yeah see ya. Jelly you staying tonight?” Jelly thought about this for a second then said “Yeah probably” Matthew Smiled “See ya then girls!” He got in his car and drove away.

  As we walked we decided to go back to YZ5 but to stay clear from Jonathan and boys like him. Jelly looked at me “I hate Anastasia!” She screamed. Then we changed our plans and decided to go and get some new clothes at the new shop Gorgeous as I am. When we got through town we were talking about how amazing the shop is. “I love this shop!” Jelly exclaimed as we walked in. The minute we stepped in I saw Anastasia (with Matthew). I try to change course but it was to late. She was coming over to me and Jelly. I could smell her perfume from here and that’s not the vampire senses talking.

  Jelly looked at me. She now knew it too. It was to late she was half over here. “Jodie,Jelly! Dahlings! Hello!” Said Anastasia as she walked over to us. She blew some air kisses to us. I grimaced and looked at Matthew in a 'why are you going out with this' expression. He shrugged “Cos she's fit.” He mouthed at me. I sighed. He was right,in a way, Anastasia was a bimbo. Blonde,good body and a very breathy voice. But she was not Jelly beautiful. Jelly was beautiful in a smoky and mysterious way. Lucky her.

  “So sweetheart” said Anastasia to me “Hows school?” God. I wish she wouldn't treat me like she's my mother. She is two years older than me. “Its good.” I replied. She looks at me and winks “Any cute boys doll?” She said. I looked at her. No matter who I liked she wouldn't know until we were going out. “Nah.” I replied flatly. She looked puzzled but then walked away with Matthew saying “Bye bye dahlings!!” Jelly looked at me and as soon as she was out of earshot said “GOD! She is so annoying!” I laughed.

  After our fun little day in town we went back to my house. Mother and father were talking about the costs for the newborn child. As soon as dad clocked me he ran over and pulled me out of the room and Jelly followed.

  “Its a vampire.” He said. I gasped “How do you know?” I asked. “Your mother had her first scan today.” He said quickly. I gasped again. “Defiantly a vampire then!” I exclaimed. “Shush shush.” My father said “Your brother and err his girlfriend Anastasia are upstairs.” “Joy.” I said. “So what are we going to do?” My father looked puzzled. “About Anastasia?” He asked. “No! About the vampire child!” I sighed. “What we did with you.” He said. “Which was?” I asked. “Its a long story.” He said. “OK lets hear!” I said. “Please lets!” Said Jelly. “OK” Said father.

  “When you where in your mothers womb and I found out you where a vampire. I had to try and supply the thirst that you will have when you were young. So I raided the hospital and got lots of O negative.” Me,Jelly and father all licked our lips then.“By the time I was stocked up you were days from being born. So I prepared myself for you. When you were born your mother was worried as you wouldn't breast feed. So I fed you blood all night without her knowing. You were a surprisingly good vampire baby as you didn't complain. As your mother tried to wean you onto food I continued with the blood as you would not eat. I continued feeding you blood until you started school. By that time you knew what we were and not to tell your mother. So I packed you blood for your school lunch so you wouldn't have to hunt yourself and I did that until you were ten. Then I taught you to hunt yourself and here we are!” Said father.

  “That wasn't that long!” I said. “It was for me! But anyway this time won't be as hard as I have you and Jelly to help!” I nodded and so did Jelly. “Reporting for duty sir!” We said. He smiled. “Now go you two!” He said. “Be HUMAN teenagers for a while!” He winked as we ran to my room.

  We lay on Jelly's 'bed' and just as we thought we could just chill my mother came in. “Hello...” She said. “Hello Mrs. Smith” Said Jelly. “Hello mother.” I said. “Jodie...Me announcing I was pregnant didn't upset you did it honey?” She said with a tear in her eye. I shook my head. “Course it didn't mother.” I said and just to make her feel better about herself I said after “I mean M-m-m-Mum!” Her face broke into a giant grin. “I love
you Jodie” She said hugging me. I pulled away. “Err mother lets not get too lovey dovey now please!” I shouted. “OK girls!” She said as she left.

  “Ahh” Said Jelly “Peace at las-” “Hey Babes!” Said Anastasia “I'm staying over tonight and your mum said I have to share with you girlies! Instead of my baby Matt! So one word rings in my head and that is SLUMBER
